Special Valentine

Special Valentine

Prepare 5 valentines and 5 envelopes to use on the flannel board.
Look at all these valentines; (put valentines on board)
I made one for each friend.
I’ll put them in some envelopes,
So each one I can send.

How many valentines do you see?
Start to count them now with me.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
One for ______(name of child)
One for ______
One for ______, too.
One for ______
And here is one for YOU! (Point to child)

Repeat until each child’s name is mentioned.

My Valentine Heart

My Valentine Heart

When I say I love you
(Point to lips)
It comes from my heart
(Hand on heart)
You hear it in your ear
(Point to ear)
And it sounds very smart
(Point to head)
I love it when you’re proud of me
(Stand very tall)
You say it all day long
(Stretch arms wide)
And when I hear you say it
(Point to ear)
My heart sings a merry song
(Hand on heart)

Who is special? That would be you.

A Song from the Suds

Valentine Poems For children
A Song from the Suds

a poem by Louisa May Alcott

A Song from the Suds

Queen of my tub, I merrily sing,
While the white foam raises high,
And sturdily wash, and rinse, and wring,
And fasten the clothes to dry;
Then out in the free fresh air they swing,
Under the sunny sky.

I wish we could wash from our hearts and our souls
The stains of the week away,
And let water and air by their magic make
Ourselves as pure as they;
Then on the earth there would be indeed
A glorious washing day!

Along the path of a useful life
Will heart's-ease ever bloom;
The busy mind has no time to think
Of sorrow, or care, or gloom;
And anxious thoughts may be swept away
As we busily wield a broom.

I am glad a task to me is given
To labor at day by day;
For it brings me health, and strength, and hope,
And I cheerfully learn to say-
"Head, you may think; heart, you may feel;
But hand, you shall work always!"

Beautiful Soup

Beautiful Soup

a poem by Lewis Carroll

Beautiful Soup

BEAUTIFUL Soup, so rich and green,
Waiting in a hot tureen!
Who for such dainties would not stoop?
Soup of the evening, beautiful Soup!
Soup of the evening, beautiful Soup!

Beau--ootiful Soo-oop!
Beau--ootiful Soo-oop!
Soo--oop of the e--e--evening,
Beautiful, beautiful Soup!

Beautiful Soup! Who cares for fish,
Game, or any other dish?
Who would not give all else for two
Pennyworth only of Beautiful Soup?
Pennyworth only of beautiful Soup?

Beau--ootiful Soo-oop!
Beau--ootiful Soo-oop!
Soo--oop of the e--e--evening,
Beautiful, beauti--FUL SOUP!

Cupid Stung

Valentine Poems For Children

Cupid Stung

by Thomas Moore

Cupid once upon a bed
Of roses laid his weary head;
Luckless urchin, not to see
Within the leaves a slumbering bee.

The bee awaked - with anger wild
The bee awaked, and stung the child.
Loud and piteous are his cries;
To Venus quick he runs, he flies;

"Oh Mother! I am wounded through -
I die with pain - in sooth I do!
Stung by some little angry thing,
Some serpent on a tiny wing -
A bee it was - for once, I know,
I heard a rustic call it so.
" Thus he spoke, and she the while
Heard him with a soothing smile;

Then said, "My infant, if so much
Thou feel the little wild bee's touch,
How must the heart, ah, Cupid! be,
The hapless heart that's stung by thee!"

Valentine Poems For Children

Curlylocks, Curlylocks

Curlylocks, Curlylocks,
Will you be mine?
You shall not wash dishes Nor feed the swine,
But sit on a cushion And sew a fine seam,
And sip upon strawberries,
Sugar, and cream.

A Valentine for My Teacher

Valentine Poems For Children

A Valentine for My Teacher

My teacher's very special so I'm making her a heart,
a valentine that's sure to be a proper work of art.
I've worked on it all morning so it should be ready soon,
I'd like to slip it on her desk before this afternoon.
It's colored in with crayons and it's trimmed with paper lace,
it has flowers, hearts, and cupids--
I can't wait to see her face.

Skidamarink a Dink a Dink

Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo, I love you.
I love you in the morning and in the afternoon.
I love you in the evening and underneath the moon.
Oh, Skidamarink a dink, a dink, Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.

On Valentine's Day

Valentine Poems For Children

On Valentine's Day

Out of a snow cloud,
cold and gray,
Something dropped on St. Valentine's Day,
Whirling and twirling and soft and light,
Like wee little letters all dainty and white,
And I guess the sky children were sending down,
This Valentine straight to the children in town.
